Training...

Unfortunately video camera is yet to arrive, so no prize-winning video footage as yet, just as well as may have captured my comedy fall from stationary... Just got back from solid 70 mile training ride today though - I wouldn't say we're more confident after having done it, as the last 20 were extremely hard work, and at that point during the event, we'll be half way through the day - some visual evidence:

London to Bishops Storford and back
In terms of splits it was a bit of a mix, from 13-21 MPH (average c16-17) for the first 35 getting out there, more like 11-17 for the way back... and the 17 must have been going down a steep hill

Sharpy has purchased a hat to match his jersey (photo evidence below) and I am as of today not going to be smoking - it's attention to detail like this that is going to make all the difference for Friday.

Some observations from previous rides that I've been doing:
- The American version of Mountain Dew (found in ye olde sweetie shop in Lechlade on Thames) is way better than the English version - it's worth an extra 2/3 MPH
- Denim shorts are not an acceptable choice for cycling attire - it makes no sense
- The English countryside and wildlife is fantastic, though a lot of it ends up smeared over the road, I'm surprised there are that many badgers left to be culled
- Generally speaking English drivers are pretty fair to cyclists, even outside of the city

Hipster cyclist

6 hours cycling in the countryside, we chose to stop here

Stroud to some crap-hole outside Reading - NB the average speed includes breaks!
Entered on the bike, won trophy
